Christchurch Golf Resort, Christchurch, New Zealand
Christchurch Golf Resort is a planned 18 hole tournament golf course, with international golf academy, driving range, training facilities, accommodation and golf course apartments and villas. The Academy focus is to provide students with the ability to build a career as a golfer or in golf administration / management. The project will be marketed throughout the world.
A finalist in the Canterbury V5 Economic Initiative, the project has already been recognised for its significant innovative economic contribution to the region and its design is environmentally driven including extensive areas of native plantings and the reinstatement of native wetlands.
Specifically, the design of the golf course seeks to:

provide a variety of golf shot-making, emphasising subtlety and strategy

deliberately integrate landforms into the strategy of each hole

create a natural, ecologically sound, attractive and harmonious landscape

maintain water quality and conserve water resources

attract wildlife including native birds with the creation of suitable habitats

provide for a long term environmental management plan, with regular monitoring and review.
